That's why we are proud to congratulate Wesley Mitchell on graduating from Leadership Columbia, the Columbia Chamber's premier leadership development program. Since 1972, Leadership Columbia has helped cultivate and connect leaders throughout the Midlands through professional development, community engagement, and hands-on learning experiences.
Selected through a competitive application and interview process, Wesley spent the past 10 months alongside fellow leaders from across the Midlands gaining a deeper understanding of the businesses, organizations, industries, and community issues that shape our region. Through immersive experiences, site visits, and conversations with community leaders, participants explored the many factors that contribute to Columbia's continued growth and success.
One of the most impactful aspects of the program was the class's community service project with Cola Town Bike Collective, a nonprofit organization dedicated to making cycling accessible and beneficial throughout the community. Wesley and her classmates contributed more than 1,300 volunteer hours to improve the organization's facility and operations. Their collective efforts culminated in a ribbon-cutting celebration attended by community leaders from across the Midlands, highlighting the lasting impact of the project.
Reflecting on her Leadership Columbia experience, Wesley shared:
“Being a member of the Leadership Columbia class of 2026 was such an invaluable experience, both personally and professionally! As someone who has grown up in the Midlands my entire life, this program allowed me to see this city in a new lens and dive deeper into the industries and businesses that operate here. Professionally, I am now even better equipped to guide my clients as they make decisions about where to live, work, and invest. Columbia is thriving, and I’m so grateful to have a front row seat!”
